Car Door Making Noise When Opening

On my 99 z28 it would act up every few months more when cold.

The sound is coming from the front of the door. Most power door locks operate using gears or motors that may quietly whir or make noise when they operate. When the door is closed there is a couple clunks then a thud. I know on mine the door hinge was making the popping.

It does the same thing in the same place as i close it. Those noises are normal. Like you said the door doesn t catch no rub at the fender etc. The sound of a car door opening and closing.

When the weather was cold the car creaked popped groaned and made all kinds of noise. It feels fine like it s not loose or anything it s just really loud and annoying. The door check is what holds the car door to the frame and keeps the door from closing once it is opened. Unusual noises coming from inside the door are one of the first symptoms of a potential problem with a power door lock actuator.

What is causing this and does it mean big trouble soon. When the driver side door is opened there is a clunk sound about half way through the swing. It is another area where you may hear the squeaking noise which can be caused by rust or dirt buildup. If you compressor turns on and the low side pipe going into the firewall of the engine compartment is getting cold around 30 40 degrees and you are not getting the same temperature air out of the dash vents then you have a vent ducting or fan problem.

But man that spring can make a pretty awful pop noise. If you have air flow but it is not cold check the blend door for operation first. It often collects grime and dust which can create a noise when you open the door.
