Respirable crystalline silica is a chemical compound present in stone dust soil granite and many other minerals. Marble dust is totally inert and cannot harm anything or anybody. Dry wall dust was not very thick in the air as most of the material was wet from the flood. When materials such as concrete stone brick or granite are cut or ground by workers it can create extremely fine dust particles which can make their way deep into the lungs if inhaled.

Glass is also inert and non poisonous but i wouldn t recommend breathing in the dust.
